Historically, the terms “sex” and “gender” have been used interchangeably, but their uses are becoming increasingly distinct, and it is important to understand the differences between the two.

  What is sex (in this context)?

In general terms, and this context “sex” refers to the biological differences between males and females, such as genitalia and genetic differences. Society typically tells us that there are two sexes: male and female. 

For instance, when you see a human with manhood, male reproductive organ, it shows that the sex is male, so, when you see a human with a titty or female reproductive organ it shows that the sex is female, so the physical appearance of humans determine their sex when a human has both male and female reproductive organs, it's called Hermaphrodite.

 What is gender?

Gender refers to the role of a male or female in society, known as a gender role, or an individual’s concept of themselves, or gender identity. Gender tends to denote the social and cultural role of each sex within a given society. Now, the roles in which males and females play in society are called GENDER. Society has traditionally taught us that there are two genders: man and woman. 

 Gender roles.

Man: provides for the family

Woman: caretaker of the family and house.

Man: Go to work

Woman: Stay at home, take care of the kids.

As I said, gender is cultural and personal.

As a current NYSC corp member who got inaugurated recently, I examined the lyrics of the NYSC Anthem. The line that caught my attention was the third line in the first verse: "Under the sun or in the rain." 📌 The phrase "under the sun" should be corrected to "in the sun." "Under the sun" is an idiom meaning "on earth" or "in existence," used to emphasize a large number of something. This meaning does not correlate with the context of the anthem.  For example: 1. The library had every book under the sun on its shelves. 2.
