Celebrant vs. Host

 Aʀᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄᴇʟᴇʙʀᴀɴᴛ ᴏʀ ᴛʜᴇ ʜᴏsᴛ? Is it correct to describe somebody who is throwing a party, a birthday party or such occasions as CELEBRANT? For example.  Ladies and gentlemen, let us sing a happy birthday song to the celebrant. Celebrant as used in Nigeria means somebody who is celebrating. But strictly speaking, in Native Standard English, the celebrant is not the one who is celebrating. 📌 CELEBRANT A celebrant is a priest who conducts a Mass or a Religious ceremony, or the person that direct and executes the activities of an occasion or a ceremony. According to Oxford  dictionary, 9th  edition,  a celebrant is a person who performs a rite, especially a priest at the Eucharist. For example 1. The celebrant conducted a beautiful wedding ceremony in the serene garden. 2. As the celebrant of the religious service, she offered words of comfort to the grieving congregation. 3. The celebrant led the graduation ceremony with enthusiasm and pride. N.B: I am not the saying the word Celeb
