Four Dumb and Four Smart Methods to Use ChatGPT for Academic Purposes.  ๐Ÿ“Œ One of the dumbest uses of ChatGPt is ASKING ChatGPT to write content for essays, articles, dissertations, etc. In order to "guess" the next word in a sentence, ChatGPT employs a prediction model. Consequently, the text will always be expected. ❎ RATHER, design the "structure" of an essay, article, etc. using ChatGPT. Predictable material is bad, but predictable organization is excellent. ChatGPT can assist you in a structured journal article framework and a weekly writing schedule. ✅ ๐Ÿ“Œ REQUESTING citations and references from ChatGPT. ChatGPT fabricates phony citations to publications that don't even exist because it is a prediction model. Some people have invested a lot of time in looking up fabricated articles that ChatGPT created. ❎ RATHER, use Scite(dot)ai in place of ChatGPT. Scite is a brand-new AI-powered assistant that responds to your inquiries by citing (legitimate) academic ...

Some Nigerian words were recently added to the Oxford dictionary. The Oxford University Press published its tenth edition by adding 29 new Nigerian English words and expressions, including words derived from the Nigerian languages of Hausa and Yoruba as well as a number of unique Nigerian coinages.  ๐Ÿ“Œ BUKA- It refers to a roadside restaurant or street stall that sells local food at low prices. It is synonymous with BUKATERIA, also called MAMA PUT.   ๐Ÿ“Œ DANFO- A yellow minibus that carries passengers for a fare as part of an informal transport system in Lagos. ๐Ÿ“Œ K-LEG- It is another term for the condition of knock knees, as well as a depreciative name for a person affected with this condition, whose inward-turning knees often resemble the shape of the letter K. ๐Ÿ“Œ EMBER MONTHS: The final four months of the calendar year (September to December), esp. considered together as a period of heightened or intense activity.  ๐Ÿ“Œ NEXT TOMORROW:  It is the Nigerian ...

I'm in hospital, or I'm in the hospital

Image
I'm in hospital, or I'm in the hospital: which is correct? I came across these sentences while editing a manuscript for a client. The two sentences are grammatically correct, but are semantically (meaning) different. ๐Ÿ“Œ Firstly, I'm in hospital is used when you are a patient, that is, you are there—in hospital—to get some treatment. For example—a conversation between a son and his mother. Mother: where are you, son? Son: I had a car crash mom, so I'm in hospital to get treated. ๐Ÿ“Œ Secondly, I'm in the hospital is used to mean when a visitor, probably a relative or a friend, goes to visit the sick person in the hospital. For example, a conversation between a father and his first daughter. Father: I just heard that your younger brother got injured in the car crash. Daughter: that's true dad, I'm in the hospital to take care of him and pay for the hospital bills. I'm hospital—used by patients in a hospital. I'm the hospital—used by visitors in the hospi...

Bachelor has several meanings, but in this context, A bachelor is a man who is not and has never been married. Secondly, what is the meaning of the word SPINSTER? Spinster is a term referring to an unmarried woman who is OLDER than what is perceived as the prime age range during which women usually marry. It can also indicate that a woman is considered unlikely to ever marry. The term originally denoted a woman whose occupation was to spin.  Thirdly, what is the meaning of the word BACHELORETTE? A bachelorette is a young unmarried woman. From this viewpoint, I can arguably say that a bachelor is a man who has not been married and is not cohabiting. He lives on his own or with a flatmate/housemate, not his wife or fiancรฉe. A woman in this situation is known as a BACHELORETTE. ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐˜€๐—ถ๐˜๐—ฒ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—•๐—”๐—–๐—›๐—˜๐—Ÿ๐—ข๐—ฅ ๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐—•๐—”๐—–๐—›๐—˜๐—Ÿ๐—ข๐—ฅ๐—˜๐—ง?...

New Word: Draconian

Image
Draconian An adjective to describe something that is excessively harsh and severe. Derives from Draco, a 7th-century Athenian law scribe under whom small offenses had heavy punishments; prescribing death for almost every offense. E.g. The Buhari regime is obviously draconian on university students.

For example: ended the relationship when I found out he was two-timing me. #S͛ั€ⷬeͤaͣแด‹ⷦIͥmͫั€ⷬeͤcͨcͨaͣะฒⷡleͤEͤngliͥs͛hͪ ©️ 〇โฒ•แŽฏ⨍๐–ฎแ–‡ แ‘Œ⊂แ‚∈.       แŽถแ–‡แŽฏโฒ™โฒ™แŽฏแ–‡ แ™…๐–ฎแŽฏ⊂แ‚

Countless English speakers as a second language use the word “double date” in the wrong way, due to the individual meaning of the word.  They assume that “double date” means when a man deceitfully dates two girls at the same time, which fundamentally wrong. Double Date: (Noun)- When a man with a fiancรฉe cunningly has another girl without the knowledge of the fiancรฉe—Wrong Double Date: (Noun)- it's an activity (such as going to the movies or going out to eat) that two couples (A wife and a husband, a wife and a husband) do together.  Technically, “Double date” is an occasion when two couples meet to go to a film, restaurant, etc. together. For example, Kate and Jane went out on a double date with Jim and Karen. NB- when the “double date” is used as a verb it is hyphenated, as in, double-date For example – My husband and I often double-date with a couple that we met in college. #S͛ั€ⷬeͤaͣแด‹ⷦIͥmͫั€ⷬeͤcͨcͨaͣะฒⷡleͤEͤngliͥs͛hͪ ©️ 〇โฒ•แŽฏ⨍๐–ฎแ–‡ แ‘Œ⊂แ‚∈.       แŽถแ–‡แŽฏโฒ™โฒ™แŽฏแ–‡ แ™…๐–ฎแŽฏ⊂แ‚
